Our focus for the renovation of this Valley Village CA home, which has a rich history and unique midcentury architecture for its neighborhood, was to modernize the landscape and create a relaxed indoor-outdoor living and play areas for family and friends.

Clean lines and modern simplicity are seen throughout, with a minimal materials palette consisting of sand finish concrete, mixed Mexican pebble and Ipe wood detailing. The raised sitting area that connects the house to the yard leads down to an oversized sand finish concrete firepit with built in seating that serves as the center of the space for nightly time spent together. Also included in this project was a tree house (that doubled as a ninja warrior training area) and a multi-purpose sport court that provided hours of fun for the kids and their friends.

The drought tolerant gardens throughout include fruiting olive trees, Blue Flame Agaves, Blue Glow Agaves, Fan Aloes, Purple Aeoniums as well as Dwarf Lemon, Lime and Satsuma Mandarin trees – all of which are commonly used in the landscapes we design and install.
