SPANISH OASIS

The goal for this residence, located in Los Angele’s historic Hancock Park, was modernize landscape and create a wide range of areas for family and friends to enjoy, while thoughtfully respecting the classic Spanish Colonial architecture of the house.

The generously sized sand finish concrete driveway and connecting pathways compliment the grand scale of the house. Pebble gaps allow for the driveway to be permeable and allow the spaces to connect throughout the colorful drought tolerant garden areas. Designed to provide a variety of living spaces, the back yard includes a poured in place custom firepit with built in seating, a pergola covered raised patio, pool area, as well as a patio that doubles as a sport court for the kids.

This property’s drought tolerant gardens include a low fruiting olive tree, an assortment of agaves such as Blue Glow, Blue Flame, Desmettiana, and succulents such as Aeoniums and Echeveria Afterglow – one of our favorites for its gorgeous color and its ability to survive in the hot summer Southern California climate.
